About Me
My name is Lisa Holben
Thank you for your interest in learning more about me.
So, what led me to train as a counsellor?
I was incredibly lucky to receive support from various individuals and charities, while overcoming my own hurdles, and their kindness, compassion, and empathy was life-changing. However, I'm aware that not everyone has this experience. I consider it a privilege to be part of my client's journey and believe passionately in the transformative power of counselling and psychotherapy.
I have worked and volunteered for various charities, and have experience in Further and Higher Education. Following this, I trained as a counsellor, working with both adults and young people (14+).
Having previously trained and worked with the charity NCT (National Childbirth Trust), an area of particular interest has always been in supporting parents and parents to be, during the perinatal period, who may have experienced perinatal depression, birth trauma, or bereavement, and those navigating family life.
I have also enjoyed my work with young people. This generation is facing a mental health crisis, experiencing life at an ever increasing pace, so I find it rewarding to be able to offer that space where they have the opportunity to learn how to process their emotions and develop the tools they need as they go out into this changing world.
